Screens

The first unit operation encountered in any Municipal Sewage / Waste water treatment plant is screening.  The bar screen is a device with openings of uniform size that is used to remove coarse and fine solids found in waste water.  These are also to protect pumps, valves, pipelines and other appurtenances from damage of clogging by rags and large objects.

According to the method used to clean the screen surface, these screens are designated as hand – cleaned or mechanically cleaned.  SHIVPAD offers both manual and Mechanical Bar Screens for coarse and fine screening applications.


MANUAL BAR SCREENS MODEL SP – HC.

Generally Primary screens have 25mm clear opening between bars and Fine screens have 12mm clear opening between bars.  These are installed at 45° inclination to vertical plane.  Sizes offered vary based on flow rates and channel sizes.



MECHANICAL BAR SCREEN – ROTARY TYPE  MODEL SP-M-1

  The screen is made of bars curved to a radius and the rakes revolve about a horizontal shaft, the axis of which is the centre of curvature of the screen bars. The screenings are thus raked and discharged on to the drainage platform for disposal.  The unit is equipped with float control and no manual attention is required.
   
 
 

MECHANICAL BAR SCREEN – LINEAR RAKING TYPE  MODEL SP- M2

 The mechanism basically consists of

  • Mechanism housing
  • Bar rack and support
  • Rake and Rake guide rail.
  • Rake frame and Track.
  • Rake raising and lowering mechanism.
  • Rake scraper
  • Drive unit above water level.
  • Equipped with timer Controls or float controls.

 

 

 

The rake scrapes the bar rack surface as it travels upwards.  The guide rail remains parallel to the bar rack surface during this operation until the rake reaches its maximum height at which time the solids get pushed off by the rake scraper.  At this stage the drive actuates downward travel with guides and rake traveling down at outward position.  The guide rail remains in the outward position until the rake reaches its lowest position and then gets back to the start position to recommence the cleaning operation.  The drive actuates upward travel and the operating cycle continues.  Depending upon process need and user’s requirement, various options are made available for material of construction.

TYPE MODEL SP - M2 - C



These mechanical screens are available with both 25mm & 12mm bar spacing for Primary and Secondary screening applications respectively.  The material of construction of these units can be either in Stainless steel or Carbon Steel depending upon the application and the option of the user.

 
 





The chains used in Shivpad Screens are specially designed roller chains which offer longer life and maintenance free operation.  Built – in Electrical overload control device provided protects the drive assembly and moving parts in case of system overload.



The auto operation can be implemented either by timer control which will facilitate continuous cleaning operation at prefixed intervals or by float control to take care of cleaning operation as and when the screen surface gets clogged.

 

 

WEDGE BAR SCREEN MODEL SP - WBS

These units offer

  • Low installation and operating cost.
  • No moving parts and hence less maintenance care.
  • High capacity per unit area of screen.

 

 
The feed is introduced into a feed box mounted to the top of the unit and overflows the parabolic shaped weir onto the screen surface.  The weir ensures that feed will make contact with the screening surface at an angle that will provide maximum screening efficiency.  Oversize materials travel along the screen surface and is discharged at the end  of the screen.  Liquid together with any fine particle passes through the screen and discharges through the bottom outlet.

Depending upon process need and user’s requirement, various options are made available for material of construction.
